India’s biggest homegrown automaker Tata Motors has some big plans for 2023. The company will launch a slew of new cars on the market. In 2022, Tata Motors launched Tiago, Tigor CNG, Tiago ev and Nexon EV Max have been successful in terms of sales and these new models will further add to the growing volumes of the Indian carmaker in 2023. Let’s take a look at the top 5 upcoming cars from Tata Motors.
1. Tata Punch CNG
Tata Motors showcased the CNG variant of the Tata
Punch
at the 2023 Auto Expo. Tata Motors entered the CNG segment by launching the
Tata Tiago
and Tigor CNG in February 2022.
Talking about the engine, the Punch CNG will be powered by the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, NA Petrol engine which puts out 86 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. However, in CNG mode the power and torque output will likely drop down to 72 bhp and 95 Nm of torque. Gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual and Tata might offer an AMT transmission with the CNG.
In terms of features, Punch comes loaded with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillights, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a semi-digital instrument cluster (with 7-inch MID), a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, push-button start/stop, rear parking camera, automatic climate control, cooled glove box, puddle lamps, etc.
Safety features will include, Safety features include dual airbags, ABS, rear parking camera and sensors, and corner stability control. The Punch CNG will also get a single advanced ECU, direct start in CNG, special nozzle for faster refuelling.

2. Tata Punch EV
It was expected that Tata motors to showcase the
Punch EV
at the Auto Expo. However, the company decided to showcase the CNG variant.
The Tata Punch EV will be based on the ALFA platform, which underpins the Altroz hatchback. The Punch EV will be powered by the same Ziptron electric motor that powers up the Tiago and
Tigor EV
but with slightly different tuning and higher power output figures. We expect the Tata Punch to produce somewhere around 90-100 hp of power and 170-200 Nm of torque.
Talking about the battery, we expect Tata to offer the Punch EV with two battery pack options - medium range and long range.
Talking about the exterior design of the Punch EV, it will feature some changes to the exterior and interior bits to distinguish itself from the ICE variant. The Punch will get electric-themed styling tropes and an Electric-specific Teal Blue shade with a tri-arrow design and the ‘humanity’ line grille similar to other Tata EVs.
3. Tata Altroz CNG
Alongside the Punch CNG, Tata Motors also showcased the Altroz CNG at the Delhi Auto Expo. The test mule of the Altroz CNG was also spied on Indian roads.
The CNG kit will work in tandem with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine which currently produces 86 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque. However, the power and torque output will likely drop down to 72 bhp and 95 Nm of torque in CNG mode. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual only.
Safety always has been a priority for Tata, and the Altroz CNG will come with ISOFIX Child Seat anchors, dual airbags in front, and rear parking sensors with camera, ABS & EBD.
4. Tata Harrier and Safari Red Dark editions
Tata Motors also showcased the Red Dark editions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs at the 2023 Auto Expo. The Red dark editions of the Harrier and Safari get significant changes over the standard models.
The Harrier and Safari will get all important ADAS features, red-seat upholstery, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new digital instrument cluster and a 360-degree camera.
Talking about the engine, the Harrier and Safari red editions will retain the same fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine, which produces 170 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque and will be offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic.
5. Tata Altroz Racer
Tata Motors showcased the much sportier version of the Altroz called Altroz Racer at the Delhi Auto Expo.
The Altroz Racer gets cosmetic changes such as a blacked-out bonnet and roof, side skirts and blacked-out alloy wheels. In terms of features, the Altroz Racer also features an electric sunroof, an updated digital instrument cluster and Tata's latest 10.25-inch infotainment screen.
The car does not only get cosmetic changes and additional features, but it also features a new engine.
The Altroz Racer gets a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine under the hood, borrowed from the Tata Nexon, putting out 120 bhp of power paired with a 6-speed manual.
